Liverpool and Villarreal back in the semifinals
The English side is making its first appearance in the UEFA Champions League semifinals since the 2018/19 edition, when it completed an impossible-to-forget comeback against FC Barcelona, which had won 3-0 in the first leg.
For their part, El Villarreal have reached the UEFA Champions League semifinals for the first time since the 2005/06 season, when they lost 1-0 on aggregate to Arsenal, with Kolo Touré scoring the only goal of the game.
Emery’s last visit to Liverpool’s ground came in the fourth round of the League Cup with Arsenal back in October 2019, where the teams signed a dramatic 5-5 draw. Klopp’s men prevailed in the penalty shootout.
